Sandhills Insurance Ltd. was originally established in 1982 as Hawkins Agencies Ltd. by Ray & Sandra Hawkins. Ray and Sandra operated the business until 2006 when it was purchased by Sandhills Credit Union. Ray continues to work occasionally at the office and is still involved in the real estate business.

Carma Besplug
Carma joined the agency in 1997 and obtained her General Insurance License in 2001. Carma has extensive experience with Motor Vehicle License Issuing and Investment areas. Carma’s duties include all customer account processes. Carma & Kevin live in Mendham and have one daughter, Lexi. Carma’s education includes a Diploma in Agriculture Business with a major in finance from Olds College 1997, and obtained the Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) designation in March 2012. She is also a notary public. Carma enjoys travelling, camping, fishing, and spending time with her family.

Roxana Tiefenbach
Roxana joined the agency in March 2006 and obtained her General Insurance License that same year. She completed CAIB 2 in November 2011. Roxana is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) with responsibility for the general accounting, receivables and bookkeeping duties.  Roxana does motor vehicle transactions but is also involved in hail and travel insurance matters. Roxana has four grown children living in China (Kiera), California (Garreth) and Saskatchewan (Aidan, Kaona). She is also grandma to Owen with another grandchild expected soon. Roxana is involved in Prison Fellowship Canada and in her community through a number of church and community organizations. Other interests include writing, reading, singing and baking.

Shelley Fuchs
Shelley joined the agency on August 26, 2008, after 11 years in the Banking Industry. Shelley completed her CAIB designation in March of 2011, and became Manager of the agency in May of 201. Shelley has been in the Customer Service Business for over 26 years. She is committed and dedicated to helping clients.  She is also a Notary Public. Shelley lives in Leader with her partner Wayne. She has two daughters, Meagan and Lauren, who are frequent visitors to her house. Organizing and playing Ladies and Co-ed  volleyball, as well as curling and softball keep her active. She also enjoys interior decorating, gardening, travelling and camping. Volunteering within the community is also important to her.

Karen Bouchard
Never one to turn down an opportunity, Karen is embarking on yet another career. Her background includes bookkeeping/accounting, banking/customer service and media. She is currently studying medical administration and insurance practices.  Karen is active in the church and community.
